Before Whitening
First, before starting the bleaching, it’s referenced to have an overall medical examination, because undiagnosed dental decay or other undiagnosed oral problems may react to the whitening process.
After Whitening
First of all, for the next 48 hours, dark staining substances should be avoided, such as: red wine, cola, mustard, ketchup, coffee, tea, soy sauce, berry pie, red sauces, tobacco products.
If your teeth are not too sensitive, practice good oral hygiene including thorough tooth brushing.
If you have sensitivity in the first 24 hours, utilize the fluoride gel to cover your teeth and help protect them from sensitivity. Also, over-the-counter pain relievers may be necessary.
While there are many benefits of having whiter teeth, having your teeth professionally whitened is worth the extra cost as it will last a lot longer than do-it-yourself options. To protect your investment, it is crucial to avoid certain foods, beverages, and products that can cause staining in the days and weeks following your treatment.
Important to know:
- Old fillings may need to be replaced after the procedure.
- Crowns and Laminates will not change colour.
- Whitening works best for the teeth that are stained yellow, brown and orange. Teeth with grey stains may lighten a little, but results will not be as good.
- Whitening lasts about 1-1/2 years depending on your personal habits.
